What we do

The Society of The Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick is a private organization dedicated to the principles of brotherhood, charity and community service. Since the founding of the organization in 1771, the society has maintained a tradition of openness to Irish as well as non-Irish men of goodwill, without regard to ethnic or religious origin.

Thanks to many generous contributions from past supporters, the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Foundation is beginning to make an impact in the greater Cincinnati area in only its fourth year of existence. We were proud to be a major sponsor of the 2005 Celtic World Festival and the Irish-American Theatre Company. Other projects where the Foundation is currently giving Funds are:

  1. Research on the History of the Irish in Greater Cincinnati (for a book and a video series),
  2. the Irish Speakers/Performers series at Xavier University,
  3. a FSSP Foundation Scholarship Fund for collegiate studies in Ireland,
  4. providing both financial and volunteer support for local under-funded organizations and agencies that Feed the Hungry.

Fund Raising for the Foundation currently revolves around an Annual Fund solicitation and other special events. The lineup of Foundation activities for the remainder of 2005 and early 2006 can be seen here.

Over the past six months the Foundation has underwritten the recording, editing and production of a new CD project by Damon Sink featuring the FSSP Glee Club and other local Irish musicians. Slated for release in February, the proceeds will go to building our endowment.

Finally, we will have a large role in the next Celtic Festival.

The FSSP Foundation needs your support. Please help us fulfill our mission of promoting Irish culture, literature, music, arts, and scholarship in the Greater Cincinnati area as well as helping those less fortunate. Those who donate a minimum of $100 will earn status as voting members of the Foundation. Gifts from Corporations, Organizations and other Foundations are most needed. The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) Corporation. As such, your gift is deductible for federal income tax purposes to the extent provided by the IRS tax code.
